How do I file an appeal? |

If there is an adverse action (like rejection/refusal of application or impounding/revocation of the passport) taken by a passport office against your passport/application, you can file an appeal by logging in the PSP portal, and then selecting 'Log appeal' from the home page. Choose the passport application you wish to file appeal against, and then click "Log Appeal". Enter the personal details (like File Number, Date of Birth, Email ID, Mobile Number, and Address for Correspondence), appeal description and click 'Submit'. On submission, an appeal number is generated.
Post this, you are required to makes the online payment of appeal fee of Rs. 25/-. Once the payment has been made successfully, you can upload the requisite documents. This completes the online appeal filling process. |

What documents are required to file an appeal? |

Following documents are required to file an appeal:
- Copy of the official notification/speaking order of the RPO decision against which appeal is being filed like the impound/revocation order, intimation of application rejection/passport refusal.
- Nominee authorization form in case the appellant deputes someone else to appear for hearing and interact with CPV on his/her behalf (applicable in certain cases like aged/medically unfit/ illiterate appellants).
- Other supporting documents (if any) relevant for the appeal.

Can I file appeal offline? |

If the file number against which appeal needs to be filed belongs to a non-live Mission/Post/Other location, then you can file the appeal offline. For this, you need to download the offline form and send the filled form, required documents and fee receipt to the correspondence address mentioned in the offline appeal form. |

My payment amount is deducted but PSP portal displays payment status as 'pending' or 'failed'. |

Payment status can be viewed by clicking 'View Submitted Appeal(s)' on the Home page and then clicking the 'Track Payment Status' link for the selected appeal.
In case your payment amount is deducted, but payment status is 'pending', you may reconfirm the payment status on the next working day.
In case your payment amount is deducted, but payment status is 'failed', the deducted amount will be refunded by SBI to applicant's bank within seven working days. Thereafter, the applicant needs to follow up with their bank for amount to be credited into his/her account. If the amount is not refunded please send an e-mail to the Service/ Helpdesk Id: customercare.00691@sbi.co.in or call at Service/ Helpdesk Phone No.: 011-41561114 (between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM) providing the relevant details such as Appeal Reference Number, Transaction Id, Payment Amount and Transaction Date.

I am unable to upload appeal documents due to their size limit while filling appeal. |

In case you are not able to upload documents due to the size restriction (size limit is 1 MB) at the time of filling appeal, the same can be sent by post at the correspondence address provided in the 'Upload Supporting Documents' screen. |

Can I request to reschedule hearing date? |

Currently, there is no provision for rescheduling hearing date by the appellant. In case the appellant does not appear on the hearing date, s/he is sent a reminder letter to clarify his/her reason for the 'no-show'. Appellants who respond satisfactorily to the 'no-show' notice are given another hearing date. |

I am located outside India. Do I need to be physically present at CPO office for hearing? |

In case appellant is located outside India, s/he can depute someone else to appear for hearing and interact with Consular, Passport & Visa (CPV) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs on his/her behalf by submitting nominee authorization form at the time of logging appeal. |

Currently, there is no provision to change address or mobile number once the appeal has been logged. If you have provided incorrect address or mobile number, you can withdraw the appeal and log appeal afresh with the correct details. |

How long does it take to reinstate the passport post the appeal ruling? |

Once the appeal has been approved, Chief Passport Officer (CPO) instructs the RPO to reinstate the passport with immediate effect. |

In case the appellant is not satisfied with the appeal verdict, you may approach the higher court(s) for appealing against the ruling. |
